As a professional psychotherapist with over 28 years of experience, I can appreciate the position you’re in. The search for a therapist can be exciting. It can also feel a little intimidating.
But it doesn’t have to be.
I’ve worked with people as they’ve faced some of the greatest challenges in their lives. In the process, I’ve come to one important realization: the key to effective therapy is your comfort. When you feel comfortable in therapy – with the surroundings, with your therapist, and with the emotional climate that is set – you can gain the ability to bring real change into your life.
I started Fung Psychotherapy & Life Coaching with the vision that we would facilitate an experience for our clients where their potential is realized. That’s why my practice colleague, Marcia, and myself strive to create an environment that is warm, respectful and “easy” – a space where we can have honest, meaningful and even playful conversations. We don’t “treat patients” or deal with “disorders.” We communicate with people and we commit ourselves to helping them discover and achieve their goals.
Our intention is to provide a respite from the world so that the people we work with can experience the essential elements necessary for realizing their full potential and discover or reclaim their authentic selves. It’s an opportunity for them to step outside of the stream of things, so to speak, and get their bearings. Then they can jump back in with a better sense of who they are and what they want, which can lead them to a greater sense of meaning in their relationships and in life in general.
We are proud to have built a reputation over the years for respectful, non-judgmental psychotherapy characterized by a climate of warmth and emotional safety.
